Don't miss out on the annual Cairns to Karumba Coast to Coast Bike Ride
Situated inside the Far North area of Queensland, Australia, on the east coast of Cape York Peninsula between the Coral Sea along with the Amazing Dividing range lies the area of Cairns. The place centre is located on Trinity Inlet, although the Trinity Bay covers most of the northern component of the place where several of the city's suburbs might be situated on flood plains. Named after William Wellington Cairns, the city's major purpose back then was to serve miners heading for the Hodgkin son River goldfield. Following the discovery of a route from Port Douglas, the city of Cairns experienced a decline because of the less difficult route that the Port provides, but later developed into a railhead which turn into the essential port for sugar cane export, gold, minerals, agricultural merchandise and as well as other metals from other surrounding coastal areas along with the area of Atherton Tableland. The area having a population of around 150,920 in 2010 is considered one of the cities that have a rapid increase in population on the Australian continent.
The area of Cairns is exceptionally well-known to tourist spot because of the tropical climate it delivers and the privilege of the beginning point for persons wanting to drop by at the Remarkable Barrier Reef and Far North Queensland. The place is often accessed from Sydney by about 2,420 km if taken by road and could be located from about 1,700 km from Brisbane.
One thing that need to not be missed when going to the impressive place of Cairns just isn't only the tropical climate it offers, but also the events it beholds that actually define an unforgettable encounter. One of these events which start off from 26th of June to the 2nd of July is known as the Cairns to Karumba Coast to Coast Bike Ride.
The Cairns to Karumba Coast to Coast Bike Ride is an annual riding event that takes place from Cape York to Karumba Point on the Gulf of Carpentaria. The event with a longest running of 14 years, a longest distance of 780 km and longest in days of 7 incorporates two forms of bicycle rides and which accommodates 180 riders and about 100 volunteers takes location on two unique routes, one on the road and the other is a Mountain Bike route.
