How to properly choose mens bikes
When choosing a men's bicycle, it's important that you decide on what type of bicycle will best suit your needs. Naturally, if you're planning on racing your bicycle, you shouldn't go ahead and go for a simple cruiser bike you're more apt to find at Walmart of comparable store. Conversely, that same cruiser bike shouldn't be used when you're planning on taking it off-road. This is all very basic, but you'd be surprised at just how many people will put price over functionality. Go out on the biking trails and you'll see precisely what I mean by this. You'll undoubtedly run across several people who aren't riding a bike suited for that environment.
So, what makes one bicycle better than the others on certain types of terrain? Naturally, a road bike is going to be best suited for the road, but what makes that so? A road bike is going to be better in this case due to its suspension and tire design. A road bicycle is going to have a significantly tighter suspension that will allow a rider more stability on the street. It'll also have a thinner tire design that will allow for better handling. Expect these road bikes to have tires that have tread designed for the street; don't expect knobby tires.
Conversely, a mountain bicycle is proper on rougher terrain due to its suspension and tire design. A mountain bike will have wide, knobby tires that will provide better grip on loose dirt or uneven terrain. These tires will reduce the bike's overall speed on the road, but that's fine; that's not what it's designed for. A mountain bike's suspension will also be significantly different than a standard road bike; mountain bikes will tend to have shock absorbers to reduce the amount of vibration to the frame and improve stability.
A high quality, light weight road bike can cost anywhere from $500 to $900 or more, and experts agree a good mountain bike designed for all types of terrain and jumps will set you back $400 or more. A good quality, light weight hybrid bike with industry standard Shimano components will cost between $200 and $300. You will easily recoup this investment after commuting to work or school and saving one month's worth of trips and money at the gas pump.
